2.3 CONSULTATION WITH CAPTAINS Before the toss the umpires and captains must agree: Type of match, overs (how many overs per side) or time (number of days play and start & end times for each day) Hours of play may be laid down in the rules of the competition and therefore not negotiable It is, however, necessary that the umpires and captains know what these hours are An overs match may have time restrictions and penalties for bowling the overs Time and duration of meals, intervals - Timing of lunch and tea intervals should take into account the catering facilities and the state of the game which may have an effect on these timings Drinks intervals - How many drinks intervals must be determined in advance of the match but drinks cannot be taken during the last hour of a timed match and there is no set time for a drinks interval All timings should be agreed so that playing time is maximised |
