2.1 APPOINTMENT & ATTENDANCE
Duties prior to the match
Before the match, two umpires shall be appointed to stand at the bowler's end and the striker' end and control the match with absolute impartiality
They are there to see that all the details of the Laws are observed and they should help each other whenever possible. For example, the umpire at the striker's end should count the balls in an over to assist the other umpire
Some umpires signal to each other after the 4th or 5th ball has been bowled
The players notice these signals and will be ready to move into position for the start of the next over
The same two umpires should umpire throughout the match
