2.7 FITNESS FOR PLAY

The umpires shall be the sole judges of the fitness of the ground, weather and light for play

This Law is clear that BOTH umpires are responsible, one umpire cannot act on his own, he must involve his colleague

The situation of the match may cause one side to pressurise the umpires to make a decision that will not be fair to their opponents

The state of the match is of no consequence to the umpires.

Any inspection and decision must be made without any interference from the players, however, the umpires may consult the groundsman about matters such as the drying properties of the ground
