2.1 APPOINTMENT & ATTENDANCE

Ground inspection (4)

The pitch must be prepared in accordance with Law 6 - 22 yards (20.12m) long and 10 feet (3.05m) wide

The length may vary in other grades of the game such as junior cricket

The painted markings for the popping, bowling and return creases must be in accordance with Law 7

The protected area of the pitch starts 5 foot (1.52m) in front of the popping crease

A short line should be drawn at this point on the outer edges of the cut pitch - these lines are not mentioned in the Laws but are an aid to the umpire when judging the bowler's foot marks after delivery

The width of the pitch is always 10 feet (3.05m) irrespective of the cut width
