31.6 CONSULTATION BY UMPIRES

An umpire cannot intervene on a decision for which he has no jurisdiction

An umpire who, through no fault of his own, may not have seen an incident on which he has to make a decision

He may have slipped over in the field or missed the incident whilst taking evasive action to avoid injury and cannot answer the appeal made to him

He should consult with his colleague who may or may not be able to help

Whatever he is told he must make the decision himself
- he cannot ask his colleague to do so because the decision is not within his colleagues remit
