31.4 APPEAL "HOW'S THAT"

An appeal, by any member of the fielding side, is a form of question that an umpire has to make a decision upon relating to a dismissal

The traditional form of an appeal by the fielding side is "How's That" - normally called loudly

A single appeal by the bowler or other member of the fielding side is made on behalf of the whole side

An appeal is not specific and is directed at both umpires who must answer it under their own area of jurisdiction

The umpire must not give a decision unless he is asked by a member of the fielding side
