31.5 ANSWERING APPEALS


Both
umpires may reply to a general appeal but their decisions are to be regarded as independent

If the bowler's end umpire answers Not out for a catch taken by the wicketkeeper and the striker's end umpire gives a batsman out Stumped the striker is dismissed

If there are appeals, each umpire must only answer appeals for situations which come under his jurisdiction


An umpire cannot intervene if he thinks his colleague has made a mistake

When confusing situations are encountered, the scorers must be informed of the form of dismissal
