19.4 BALL GROUNDED BEYOND THE BOUNDARY

This is a section of Law 19 which prevents a fielder going beyond the boundary and jumping up to return the ball to the field of play whilst they themselves are not grounded beyond the boundary even though they may have been beyond the boundary when they jumped

A fielder cannot go beyond the boundary and make his first contact with the ball that would otherwise have been a boundary when he jumps up from a position beyond the boundary

All airborne fielders making their first contact with the ball will need to have taken off from within the boundary, otherwise a boundary is scored

The fielder must be grounded inside the boundary immediately before touching the ball for the first time

To claim a catch or field the ball, the fielder must jump from within the boundary
