17.5 UMPIRE MISCOUNTING

Both umpires should count the balls in an over

After the 4th or 5th ball the bowler's end umpire should signal to the striker's end umpire and receive acknowledgement

If the umpire miscounts and over is called, the over is complete

If the umpire allows more than 6 valid balls, he can call over even after an invalid delivery such as a No ball or Wide

Any runs scored or wickets taken off an extra ball is unfortunate but will stand

It is not possible to bowl the missing balls in an over, at a later time in the innings

Scorers should record balls actually received not balls that should have been received
