17.1 NUMBER OF BALLS

A ball in cricket can mean a hard, round object with which the game is played or a sequence of events
    the bowler prepares to launch the object (run up and delivery stride)

    he launches it (delivers the ball)

    activities might result from the delivery (runs scored, batsman dismissed, etc)

    completion of activity (ball is dead)
An over consists of 6 valid balls (sequence of events) bowled from alternative ends of the pitch
