28.1 PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
The only external protective equipment permitted for fielders is a helmet
Gloves and external pads are not allowed
A fielder may wear pads or a protector inside his normal clothing
A damaged hand or fingers may be protected but only with the consent of the umpires and the protection must not be a glove
The opposing captain should be informed that permission has been given
