24.4 PLAYER RETURNING
WITHOUT PERMISSION
If a fielder has been absent from the field and returns without permission he will incur a penalty if he comes into contact with the ball

The umpires must confirm that neither
of them gave permission for his return
The ball becomes dead on the instant of contact
5 Penalty runs are awarded to the batting side
Any completed runs are recorded plus the run in progress if the batters have crossed
The ball does not count in the over
The relevant people should be informed as soon as possible (Captains, Batters, Executive and Governing Body)
