25.5 RUNNERS

The player who acts as a runner for an injured batsman must be a nominated member of the batting side and must not have any unserved Penalty time

If possible the runner should have already batted in that innings except when one of the opening batsmen needs a runner

In that case, a member of the batting side who is expected to bat in the lower order will act as the runner

The runner must wear the same external equipment as the injured batsman

When appropriate he must
    carry a bat
    wear batting gloves
    wear pads
    wear a protective helmet
In the UK, a runner who is under 18 years old must wear a protective helmet even if the injured striker is not wearing one
