37.4 RETURNING THE BALL TO
A FIELDER
If either batter uses his bat or person to return the ball to a fielder without the fielding side's permission, he will be out, on appeal, Obstructing the field
Once permission has been given to return the ball to a fielder, the ball is to be considered dead and a batter cannot be dismissed
It should be noted that Handled the ball is no longer a form of dismissal
