34.4 RUNS PERMITTED FROM BALL STRUCK LAWFULLY MORE THAN ONCE

The striker can no longer score runs from a ball lawfully struck twice

Runs can no longer be scored from overthrows

Penalties can be awarded only if
    on the first strike, the ball hits the bat

    Or the striker attempts to hit the ball with his bat

    Or the striker attempts to avoid being hit by the ball
However, if the ball strikes a fielder's helmet placed on the ground, the penalty runs will NOT be allowed

Any attempted runs are dealt with in the same way as illegal Leg byes - Call and signal Dead ball after one run is completed and return batsman to their original ends
