34.1 OUT HIT THE BALL TWICE
34.2 NOT OUT HIT HE BALL TWICE

For this Law the word 'strike' refers to the ball coming into contact with the bat or the person of the striker

Assuming the ball is in play and has not been touched by a fielder:
    If the striker deliberately strikes the ball more than once for any reason except to defend his wicket, he is out under this Law
BUT
    If he strikes the ball to return it to a fielder, he is out Obstructing the field - unless permission has been given

    If he strikes the ball after it has been touched by a fielder, he is out Obstructing the field - unless permission has been given
