23.3 LEG BYES NOT TO BE
AWARDED
If the striker makes no attempt to play at the ball with his bat, Leg byes will not be allowed
If the striker makes no attempt to avoid being hit by the delivery, Leg byes will not be allowed
The batting side will not be allowed to score any runs from the delivery other than the 1 run penalty if a No ball is called
5 run penalties will not be allowed even if the action by the fielding side merited it in normal circumstances unless the ball hits a fielder's helmet which has been placed on the ground behind the wicket-keeper
If the batters do not run there is no further action required, however, the umpire may call and signal Dead ball
