Snick, feather, nick, thin-edge
To snick the ball is to make contact with it with the extreme
edge of the bat . Bowlers hope to make this happen as often as
possible, in the expectation that a subsequent catch will be
taken, usually by the wicket-keeper or one of the slip
fielders
