EQUIPMENT

Bails - These may be supplied by the ground authorities but it is better that the umpire has sets of his own

It is advisable to use heavy bails in windy conditions

Spare bail - Each umpire should carry a spare bail matching the bails used in the match

Ball counter - Traditionally, umpires use 6 coins, stones or marbles (remember to carry a spare) but there are other devices available which some umpires prefer

Run counter - A commercial device (wheel or clicker) used to record every run scored in an innings. It can be used as a check against the scoring record

Bowler's mark - May be a purchased or home-made item and used by the bowler at the start of his run up
