PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES There are a number of attributes and skills required by anyone aspiring to becoming an umpire. Some skills will come naturally but others will have to be worked on and will improve with experience. Good eyesight, with or without glasses, is essential because an umpire judges events by what he sees Good hearing will support what has been seen and the two senses together can be very effective. Full concentration by the umpire is paramount for the complete length of time that a match may last. Any lapses in concentration may result in an error that can seriously affect the result of a match |
