6.1 AREA OF PITCH

The playing area is referred to as the pitch never the wicket

It is a rectangular area measuring 22 yards (20.12 m) by 10 foot (3.05 m)

It stretches from bowling crease to bowling crease and 5 foot (1.52 m) either side of an imaginary line drawn between the centre stumps

The pitch is generally mown closer than the rest of the square making it easier to distinquish

Umpires should always check the correct width, it may not be the mown area
