20.6 DEAD BALL; BALL COUNTING IN THE OVER

If the ball becomes dead or is considered dead before the striker has the opportunity to play it then it does not count as one of the over and an additional delivery is allowed

If the striker has had the opportunity to play the ball before it becomes dead then the ball will count as one of the over unless
    No ball or Wide ball has been called

    or there has been a deliberate attempt to distract the striker whilst he is preparing to receive or receiving a delivery

    or after he has received a delivery (see Laws 41.4 41.5 for details)
unless dead ball is called by the other umpire

Once the ball is Dead no revoking of any decision can bring the ball back into play for that delivery (October 2022)
