Inside edge
The inside edge of the bat is the one
nearest the batter when he
is on strike. Bowlers will
often attempt to bowl a delivery that
swings in the air or spins or cuts off
the pitch so as to catch the edge and
send a thin snick through to be caught
by wicket-keeper or slip fielders
or the ball is diverted onto the stumps.
