8.5 DISPENSING WITH BAILS If the bails keep falling off the top of the stumps because of windy conditions or poor grooves, the umpires may consider dispensing with the bails The captains are not consulted The bails will be removed from both wickets even though the problem is only happening at one end of the pitch Before reaching this decision, the umpires should try to continue play with heavier bails Conditions for the wicket being put down, when playing without bails, are detailed in Law 29.4 (Dispensing with bails) The bails should be replaced as soon as conditions allow |
