Example 1

A 3 day match commences at 2pm on day 2

For follow-on calculations, it is now a 2 day match

Example 2

A 5 day match commences on time on day 1 but only 5 balls are bowled

There is no play on day 2

Play starts on time on day 3

For follow-on calculations, it is still a 5 day match

14.3 FIRST DAY'S PLAY LOST

If there is no play on the first day of a match, the scheduled number of days is reduced by one day

Play has started, on any day, when the umpire has called Play and the bowler starts his run-up for the first delivery

If a limited amount of play takes place on day 1 of a match, the scheduled number of days for the match are not reduced
