First-class
First-class cricket is the name given to the top level of professional cricket played in a
country or territory. Test Match sides are
almost always composed
of first-class cricketers.
In England, first-class cricket is often known as county cricket, since the eighteen major
county clubs constitute the first-class game. Below first-class level comes minor counties
cricket, once known as second-class.
