Farming the bowling


Sometimes a specialist batter finds himself batting with tailenders. In order to attempt to win a match, or alternatively to try and bat out time for a draw, the more skilled batter will try to face as much of the bowling as he possibly can. On the 5th or 6th ball of each over, he will try to score one run ensuring he will be the batter who will face the next over, and protecting his less gifted partner.
